Jack Sparrow and his crew are back on the high seas on July 7th 2017 with Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Now before you all start going “Arrrggghhhhh” in the negative sense, keep in mind that the Pirates franchise, which kicked off in 2003 has pulled in $3.7 BILLION worldwide. Now, that doesn’t mean the movies are any good and it could also imply that audiences are idiots, BUT….some of them have been very entertaining. The first one, The Curse Of The Black Pearl was fantastic, while the follow up Dead Mans Chest was average at best. Then we had At The Worlds End which was better than the sequel (which wouldn’t have been hard) and that was trailed by the above average On Stranger Tides. So, by no means a bad franchise, but one that needs to take a look at it’s first sailing and try and rekindle that.
As you’d expect Johnny Depp will command a ship load of bullion to reprise the role of Jack Sparrow, but nothing has been announced on that front yet. But one wonders will the accountants in the house of the mouse be willing to splash some serious cash, considering that the fourth movie has now been classed as the most expensive movie ever made, at a whopping $410 MILLION (according to Forbes)
Anyway, ye land lubbers, watch this space and let us know in the comments, will you board the good ship Sparrow one more time?
