Stumbling out of the cinema after seeing Guardians of the Galaxy, it is hard to believe there was any doubt on whether Marvel Studio's bunch of a-holes would strike box office gold. But strike box office gold it did. Not only did it continue Marvel Studio's run of a U.S. #1 spot on opening weekened, but we can report that it has crossed the $500 million mark worldwide since opening at the start of August, with the movie still to open in key markets like Germany, Italy, Japan and China. Not bad for a movie once considered Marvel Studio's biggest gamble to date.
