Coming from director Stephen Daldry (Billy Elliot, The Reader), I have a strong feeling Trash is going to feature heavily when the upcoming Oscar race goes into full swing. Adapted from Andy Mulligan's novel of the same name by Richard Curtis (Love Actually), the movie follows three boys (Rickson Tevez, Luis Eduardo, and Gabriel Weinstein) who survive in the slums of Rio picking through trash. When they find a wallet sought after by some very bad man, they are propelled on the adventure of their young lives, uncovering a dangerous conspiracy along the way. Also starring Martin Sheen and Rooney Mara, Trash does show the promise of a compelling, and the young actors at the heart of the story will no doubt tug at audiences heart strings.
