Published earlier this month in the U.S. (it will be hit bookshops on this side of the pond next year), Nevermore, from novelist Laird Hunt, tells the story of Ash Thompson who leaves her husband and dons the uniform of a Union soldier to fight in the American Civil War. The novel has already garnered universal acclaim, and now the film rights have been scooped up by Element Pictures, who have What Richard Did and Frank director Lenny Abrahamson signed on, with frequent collaborator Ed Guiney producing.
Work on Neverhome will no doubt begin when Abrahamson wraps on Room, an adaption of the Emma Donoghue novel, currently in pre-production in Canada, and starring Brie Larson (Scott Pilgrim vs The World, 21 Jump Street).
