Line-up Announced For Fingal Film Festival 2014

SHARE:

Running from the Friday 26th of September to Sunday 28th, the Fingal Film Festival has revealed it's line-up, offering everything from workshops to screening of some of the finest independent films from all over the world. The festival unofficially begins Friday morning with an animation workshop with Rob Cullen from Boulder Media (responsible for Cartoon Networks the Amazing World of Gumball), while the afternoon will play host to a screening of Irish feature documentary One Ocean: No Limits, which follows the journey of one Irish novice rower as he attempts to row across the Atlantic Ocean, from Morocco to Barbados, a part of a crew of six. Later that evening the festival will officially kick off with the premier of Gia Copolla's (daughter of Gian-Carlo and granddaughter of Francis Ford) teenage drama Palo Alto, starring Emma Roberts, James Franco, and Val Kilmer, based on Franco's short story collection of the same name.

Saturday's workshop will focus on Sound Design and Supervision, lead by Niall Brady (Frank, What Richard Did) and Steve Fanagan (Albert Nobbs, The Guard). Saturday's programme includes award winning Columbian film Jardín de Amapolas, telling the story of a farmer and his son forced into the dangerous and lucrative world of cultivating poppies following their exile by rebels, and Irish docudrama Áille an Uafáis (A Terrible Beauty), which delves into the lives of the men and women of the Easter Rising. Saturday concludes with he coming of age tale Calloused Hands, which sees a talented young baseball player attempting to rise up out of Miami's roughest neighbourhood.

The final day includes Iranian feature The Corridor and documentary Dah Zivoto, which focuses on six babies born to the civil war in Bosnia Herzegovina who were deprived of oxygen due to air and ground blockades. The festival closes out with Blitzfood, a comedy about hate, in which volatile lost soul Perigrin Ship staggers through a nervous maze of self-inflicted disasters. Each feature is accompanied by a selection of short films, including animated and Irish language efforts.
