With cameras rolling on the aptly titled Magic Mike XXL, the full cast list has be revealed for the sequel, confirming that Matthew McConaughey will not be rejoining Channing Tatum for the sequel. However, the rest of the Kings of Tampa, including Joe Manganiello, Kevin Nash, and Adam Rodriguez, will be returning. The original cast will be joined by newcomers Elizabeth Banks, Donald Glover, Amber Heard, Andie McDowell, Jada Pinkett Smith, and Michael Strahan. That's a pretty intriguing cast, especially proven comedians Banks and Glover.
On top of all that, the full synopsis has been released, expanding on the rumours doing the rounds that pitched the sequel as a road movie. It promises, for me at least, a much different movie than the original, though still delivering what the target audience are looking for. Check it out below:
Picking up the story three years after Mike bowed out of the stripper life at the top of his game, “Magic Mike XXL” finds the remaining Kings of Tampa likewise ready to throw in the towel. But they want to do it their way: burning down the house in one last blow-out performance in Myrtle Beach, and with legendary headliner Magic Mike sharing the spotlight with them. On the road to their final show, with whistle stops in Jacksonville and Savannah to renew old acquaintances and make new friends, Mike and the guys learn some new moves and shake off the past in surprising ways.
