It has been in the works for years now, but Top Gun 2 is still chugging along with a new screen writer brought to pen the sequel. The Holly Reporter has revealed Justin Marks (Disney's upcoming The Jungle Book) has been brought in, replacing Peter Craig (The Town, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1) who wrote a previous draft of the script. Nearly thirty years later, I don't see why there should be a sequel in all honesty, but both producer Jerry Bruckheimer and Tom Cruise have been actively pushing this project forward for the last number of years. Even the originals director Tony Scott was interested in stepping behind the camera for it, before he tragically passed away over two years ago. I have no doubt we will finally see Cruise flight suit up again as Maverick at some point down the line, but will audiences flock to see it?
