With Gareth Edwards graduating to Godzilla, directing duties on the follow-up to Edwards' debut Monsters feature fall to Tom Green, also making his big step up to movies with a number of episodes of t.v.'s misfits under his belt. Set ten years after the original, the 'Infected Zones', complete with giant tentacle monsters, have spread world wide, and Dark Continent sees a group of U.S. soldiers in the Middle east deal with this growing threat while battling insurgents. Judging by the trailer below, it is certainly a different beast than the original, which was content with keeping the monsters hidden for much of the movie. Here they are front and center, with the trailer giving us a look at some new breeds of the alien beasties from ones the size of a dog, to a towering behemoth. This looks more action heavy than Edwards' character driven original, but core concept of Monsters is one ripe for interpretation. Check out the trailer below.
