Warner Bros. Announce Full Slate Of DC Comics Movies

SHARE:

We've known for some time that Warner Bros. had plans for a full universe worth of movies featuring their DC Comics characters. 2016's Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is to kick off it off, but beyond Justice League and a Wonder Woman movie featuring Gal Gadot, we've been pretty much in the the dark about how the DC Cinematic Universe would break down. Until now. Speaking at Time Warner Investor Day, Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara revealed the full slate, which goes as far as 2020, as follows:

Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice is of course set for March 25th 2016, but it shares the year with super villain team up Suicide Squad, directed by End of Watch and Sabotage's David Ayer, which sees the light of day on August 5th. It's strange that a movie where the bad guys are the focus is coming so early on in the universe's inception.

2017 sees Gal Gadot get her solo Wonder Woman movie on June 23rd, while Gadot, Ben Affleck, henry Cavill and the rest of the DC heroes team up for the Zach Snyder directed Justice League Part One on November 10th. This is one of the biggest surprises of the entire slate, as there was no inkling given that the hero team up movie would be split in two.

Another surprise was the announcement of Ezra Miller (We Need to Talk About Kevin, Perks of Being a Wallflower) taking on the role of The Flash, with the Scarlet Speedster getting his own movie on March 23rd 2018. Jason Mamoa follows this with the title role in Aquaman on July 27th.

2019 sees Shazam, with Dwayne Johnson taking on the role of the villainous Black Adam, released on April 5th. And Zach Snyder takes the helm once again for Justice League Part Two on June 14th.

He will make his debut in the role in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, but Ray Fisher's Cyborg gets his own movie on April 3rd 2020, while a yet to be cast Green Lantern reboot takes a bow on June 19th. It's unknown if the new Green Lantern will be unveiled in either Justice League movie. Solo Batman and Superman movies were also confirmed as in development, but no release dates were given.

Aside from the DC side of things, Warner Bros. also announced the release for continuations of their LEGO and Harry Potter franchise. For LEGO, Ninjago debuts on September 23rd 2016, the recently announced LEGO Batman gets a May 26th 2017 release date, while we're getting The LEGO Movie 2  on May 25th 2018. The world of Harry Potter is coming to the big screen again with prequel series Fantastic Beats and Where to Find Them. The first installment hits our screens November 18th 2016, with the follow ups released 2018 and 2020 respectively. All in all, Warner Bros. are going to be very busy for the next six years and beyond.
