We already knew Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. would be rubbing shoulders in Captain America: Civil War, but Marvel Studios have now announced that Daniel Bruhl (Inglorious Basterds, Rush) will be joining the cast in an unspecified role. Deadline went one further, revealing he will be playing the villain (suggesting the story will be more than a Cap/Iron Man smackdown), as well as adding that Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, and the Winter Soldier himself, Sebastian Stan, would be returning. Variety went one further, reporting that he won't be the main villain, and will in fact go on to (possibly) menace Benedict Cumberbatch in Doctor Strange.
No doubt, speculation will run wild on who Bruhl will be playing, but he is a fantastic addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said on the announcement of the actors casting, "With Daniel's ability to deliver, intense nuanced performances, we knew we had found yet another great actor to share the screen with some of our biggest heroes."
Captain America: Civil War is set for release May 6th 2016.
