Disney's live action-ing of their animated classics continues with Kenneth Branagh's Cinderella, and the first full trailer for the movie has hit the Internet, giving us a good look at the his take on the classic tale. It's certainly bright and colourful, looking like a living cartoon at times, and the cast seem spot on, especially Lilly James in the title role, and Cate Blanchett as her evil stepmother. Such a well known fairy tale did seem like an odd choice for Branagh, despite helming Thor and Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit, he is still best known for his Shakespeare adaptions, but he seems to be good choice here. The director even had a few words to say about what drew him to the project, "Being able to direct Disney's "Cinderella" in the 21st Century means that you're in the driving seat for presenting a myth that has endured across the ages, because it connects with human beings at a profound level. we identify with Cinderella, we love her. Cinderella is certainly placed in challenging circumstances, but she chooses not to be the damsel in distress, and we see her make strong, positive choices in that regard." Sound off below with your thoughts on the trailer.
