Well 2014 is on borrowed time, as the final hours of the last twelve months fly by like they're doing a decent time on the vessel run. Thanks to you good folks, we've had a pretty damn epic year here at The Movie Bit. Over the last twelve months, you've stopped by in your millions and we've done our best to keep you informed and entertained with all things movies.
The podcast tore up the charts as we shot the breeze about movies, Liam Neeson's cock (sorry Ralph) and generally gave Tom a hard time. We also pulled in some epic guests including Oscar winners like Pixar's Ed Catmull and Lord Of The Rings composer Howard Shore and let's not forget our in-depth on site coverage of all things Star Wars Episode VII when it rolled into Kerry. Make sure to subscribe to the podcast (link at the top of the page) to have a listen to all of this and much more. Speaking of much more, and yes we've got a few more plugs to get in, we're now classed as one of the best podcasts in the country, one of the best online daily publications and one of the best entertainment sites. All thanks to some the various award finals we scraped through to. Anyway, enough of the self indulgence let's take a look at some Top 5s from this here site.

5 - Rachel Griffits Confirmed For Mannimal
4 - Chris Pratt Guardians Of The Galaxy Interview
3 - Godzilla Ultimate Trivia
2 - Star Wars Episode VII in Portmagee, Co. Kerry
1 - Shia LaBeof pulls out his own tooth on the set of Fury
Tom's Top Five Movies Of 2014
5. The Grand Budapest Hotel
Wes Anderson's first commercial hit sees the director keep his charming and unique style in tact, presenting a smart and endlessly funny caper with Ralph Fiennes on top as the scheming, but loveable, cad Gustave H.
4. The Babadook
Overflowing with tension and genuine scares, The Babadook is one of the best horror movies in recent memory. Turning well known cliches on their head, as well as mixing in some tense family drama, director Jennifer Kent showed a fantastic talent for the genre and introduced the world to genuinely creepy and memorable monster.
3. Frank
Lenny Abrahamson followed up heavy drama's Garage and What Richard Did with a comedy of sorts, featuring it's most well known star hiding his face behind a giant paper mâché head. Hilarious and moving in equal measure, Michael Fassbender puts in a memorable performance as the titular musical genius, wrestling a surprisingly level of emotion from the giant head.
2. A Most Wanted Man
One of Philip Seymour Hoffman's final performances, the actor dominates this incredibly tense adaption of John le Carre's novel. Atmospheric and filled with tension, this modern spy thriller was the perfect send off to an acting power house.
1. Guardians of the Galaxy
Everybody thought Marvel's space faring heroes wouldn't work, but James Gunn proved us all wrong. The purest cinematic experience I had all year, the fun and craziness of this world where blue skinned aliens shared the same air as walking, talking woodland critters bled from the screen. The fact it transcended the big screen, and took over people's IPod's shows just how much of a success this actually was.
Vic's Top Five Movies Of 2014
5 - The Grand Budapest Hotel
Just a delight to watch from beginning to end with plenty of laughs and touching moments while bursting at the seams with wonderful Wes Anderson touches
4 - Edge Of Tomorrow
Even the Tom Cruise haters couldn't deny that Edge Of Tomorrow is one of the finest action movies of the year with the Cruise machine firing on all cylinders again and again and again. Riveting stuff!
3 - Chef
A movie that not only caused erections and lady boners for food on screen (grilled cheese sandwich HELLLOOOO!!) but provided nothing but wonderful heartfelt moments from Jon Favreau's brilliantly written and directed foodie masterpiece!
2 - Guardians Of The Galaxy
Sometimes the biggest gambles pay off and Guardians was no exception. Expert casting, constant hilarity and the greatest talking raccoon in cinema history not to mention the most fun you could have in a cinema this year.
1 - The Wolf Of Wall Street
You might have to wash yourself down after viewing the Wolf Of Wall Street, but you knew you were in for a helluva ride in the opening minutes with DiCaprio snorting cocaine out of a hookers asshole. That and a closing shot that sums the whole thing up in a way that only Martin Scorsese could achieve.
So there you have it. Thanks for making it a great 2014 and here's to an even bigger and better 2015
