When Justin Lin signed on to take the Star Trek 3 director's chair vacated by Roberto Orci, there was a lot of speculation on whether the script Orci was in the middle of writing, alongside Patrick McKay and John D. Payne, would be used. Well, a few weeks back, Orci announced he was attached to the sequel in a producing capacity only, meaning the script was back at square one, not a good place to be for a blockbuster targeting a July 8th 2016 release date. But everything seems to be back up on running, with Simon Pegg pulling double duty, not only reprising his role as Scotty, but co-writing the script with Doug Jung (best known for his work on t.v. shows Banshee and Dark Blue). With the likes of Cornetto Trilogy, Paul, and Run, Fat Boy, Run under his belt, Pegg has proven himself as a pretty string script writer, and I can't be the only one interested in what he and Jung come up with.
