When your feature debut is the beautiful and thought provoking documentary Jiro Dreams of Sushi, the last thing you expect your follow-up to be is a creepy science fiction/horror mash-up. But that is exactly what director David Gelb is giving us with The Lazarus Effect, featuring Olivia Wilde, Mark Duplass (another surprise having made his name in much smaller fare like Humpday and Your Sister's Sister, and as director of Cyrus and Jeff, Who lives At Home), and Donald Glover as members of a group of medical students who develop a process to bring the dead back to life. Needless to say, things go off the rails spectacularly. The is premise is nothing new, but the below trailer is pretty darn effective, mixing in an interesting story with an extremely tense and creepy atmosphere. Check it out below.
