Rather, this looks like a teen coming-of-age tale set against a background of some awesome pop medleys, updated for the modern era and told through the eyes of four sisters as they struggle to make it in the music business.
The original cartoon was an overload of the senses of colour and vibrant animation, so by comparison this looks more muted but sill something that could pick up a bit of a cult following. Have a look and see for yourselves.
Jem & The Holograms opens later in the year and features Audrey Peeples as Jerrica / Jem.
