Jason Statham is returning to the genre that first put him on our radar, with a direct sequel to Layer Cake! The movie, adapted from the book Viva La Madness, follows on straight from the events of the 2004 film, and Statham is hoping to get the cameras rolling on it next year.
Statham will produce as well as star, and he'll be playing an unnamed drug-dealing hero from the book. Once again JJ Connolly, the author of Layer Cake and Viva La Madness, will be adapting his own work, so expect more of the same dark sense of humour and East London violence.
No word on what they intend to do with Daniel Craig's character, although not being familiar with the book, I can't even tell you if he's relevant to the plot. Craig won't be returning, nor will Matthew Vaughan, but I for one am pretty stoked to see Statham plotting a return to his roots.
