Ridley Scott is back in space again for The Martian, but, despite the name, there are no aliens this time round, just an epic tale of survival against all the odds.
Both this trailer and the wonderful viral video that recently dropped have me incredibly excited for The Martian. There’s an immense charm to it (and that’s all down to Matt Damon and what could very well be the line of the year), and also something incredibly epic about it. I hate to call any over this year’s anything, but this could really be this year’s Gravity.
Released: 27th November
Synopsis: During a manned mission to Mars, Astronaut Mark Watney (Matt Damon) is presumed dead after a fierce storm and left behind by his crew. But Watney has survived and finds himself stranded and alone on the hostile planet. With only meager supplies, he must draw upon his ingenuity, wit and spirit to subsist and find a way to signal to Earth that he is alive. Millions of miles away, NASA and a team of international scientists work tirelessly to bring “the Martian” home, while his crew mates concurrently plot a daring, if not impossible rescue mission. As these stories of incredible bravery unfold, the world comes together to root for Watney’s safe return.
