Aidan Gillen Is Bringing His Favourite 80’s Movies To Cork

SHARE:

On Saturday 25th July, Triskel Christchurch is delighted to welcome back to Cork City actor Aidan Gillen (Game Of Thrones, Calvary, Love/Hate, Charlie) who will host an evening of his favourite movies from the 1980s. Gillen has been Triskel cinemapatron since January 2014 when he presented his inaugural weekend of selected films.

“We are presenting three great 80s films,” says Gillen. “One of my top three films of any era ‘Rumble Fish’, where I fell in love with Mickey Rourke, Stewart Copeland's soundtrack and loads more; ‘Blue Velvet’, possibly the best film of the decade. I went on a teen date to that and it was interesting expressing my love for it afterwards; and thirdly ‘Stop Making Sense’ filmed by Jonathan Demme with a care that made it as good as a live gig - one that you weren't ever going to get to be at - and regularly attended late night screenings at the Ambassador Cinema which was a stunning alternative to whatever else was going on for a 17 year old in Dublin after 11pm which was, to put it politely, f**k all.”
Aidan Gillen has enjoyed widespread success as an actor in film and TV. He is currently filming Game of Thrones series six in Northern Ireland and will travel to Cork for Saturday 25 July Triskel event to host the selected films in person. Gillen is also known for his television roles in Love/Hate, The Wire and Queer as Folk as well as roles in film including The Dark Knight Rises and Calvary.
Regular ticket prices apply; Triskel Christchurch Cinema Members can purchase a special three-film ticket for €15
