The Death of Superman Lives; What Happened is a documentary from director Jon Schnepp that gives us behind the scenes access to what would have been Nic Cage and Tim Burton's bonkers Superman movie, before the project was scrapped entirely by Warner Bros.
Featuring Cage as the man of steel in a funky concept costume, and with a script from Kevin Smith that had Superman facing off against Brainiac, Lex Luthor AND Doomsday, it's fair to say this film was nothing if not ambitious.
Now, for the first time ever, we'll get the untold story of a blockbuster that never was, with interviews from a lot of the main players in the story and test footage of Cage as the titular superhero.
Schnepp, who has always been fascinated with Smith's script on the movie, has released the first 10 min of the documentary on his YouTube channel, and you can see it below. The documentary will be released digitally on July 9th.
