Since debuting at last year’s IndieCork Film Festival, the no budget, Cork shot drama Dead Dogs has hit quite a milestone during its festival run, picking up the award for Best Drama Feature at this weekend’s Fort Worth Indie Film Showcase in Fort Worth, Texas, an event aimed at bringing attention to the quality work produced by the independent film movement.
A stark and heartfelt portrayal of mental illness, struggling families, and isolation, Dead Dogs was shot in and around Cork City with a wealth of local talent in front and behind the camera, with a number of the crew, including director Ian Ruby and DOP Robert O’Halloran, being graduates of St. John’s Central College Film Production course. From all of us here at The Movie Bit, well done to everyone involved for this tremendous achievement.
