There’s not much zombie action on display here, but plenty of Jane Austen’s heroines as bad ass zombie fighters, and a real sense that director Burr Steers (Igby Goes Down) is going for a very grounded tone to the material. As he tells EW, “The idea was that it was Pride and Prejudice set in this alternate world and then for everyone to play it straight. The movie’s big wink is that there is no big wink. It’s definitely not camp.”
