Update - Packed with extra footage, an international trailer has come online, really hammering home how fun this is going to be. Check it out below.
Not content with scaring a generation of kids on the printed page, R.L. Stine’s Goosebumps books are making the jump to the big screen, with a rather neat premise: all the monsters Stine (Jack Black) wrote about were real and trapped in the pages of his books, and when they are released, it’s up to him and group of local kids to put them back.
There’s something wonderfully old school about this trailer that reminds me of a time when movies like Jumangi and Hocus Pocus (all time classic children’s adventures by the way) were all the rage, and the tone and humour on display is spot on, along with some really clever monsters (how has no one done killer gnomes before?). I’m a real sucker for kid friendly horror like this, and I have the feeling this will strike a chord with the kid in all of us.
Goosebumps reaches American cinemas on October 16th, while it doesn’t come to our shores till February 5th of next year (booooo!!).
