In the immortal words of Marcus Burnett, shit just got real. While the saga of Bad Boys 3 has been one that has been ongoing for years now, things seemed to be looking up with word coming a few months back that Narc and The Grey’s Joe Carnahan was in talks to write and possibly direct the second sequel to Michael Bay’s insanely popular cop actioner. Now, the movie now seems like a given, with Sony settling on a February 2017 release date for the return of Martin Lawrence’s Burnett and Will Smith’s Mike Lowrey. But that’s not all, because Bad Boys 4 (yes, Bad Boys 4!!!) will be coming our way in June of 2019.
Both Lawrence and Smith are expected to return, with the studio wanting to sign Smith on quickly so filming can begin as soon as he is done with Suicide Squad. It’s unknown at this time if Carnahan will be pulling double duty as script writer and director, but for fans of the action packed series (of which I count myself) this is a major news. Time to get the theme song from COPS stuck in your head again.
