Inspired by European cinema and theater of the 60’s and 70’s, By The Sea is Angelina Jolie Pitt’s directorial follow-up to Unbroken, and sees the actress star opposite her husband Brad Pitt as an American couple whose already strained marriage is only worsened when they travel to a picturesque 1970’s French resort. The first teaser has arrived, and while it is more of a mood setting piece, there is no denying this dark relationship drama shows a lot of promise.
The lead pair have already proven themselves to be tremendous actors, and they should be given plenty of opportunity to dig them into these characters. I love the melancholy tone, and just the sheer beauty of some of the shots on display here. This should be one film everyone should keep an eye on.
Released: November 13th (U.S.)/ December 11th (IRL/U.K.)
