So, this puts Spectre in the position of being an origin story of sorts, which may have a few people scratching their heads. Let Mendes explain it to you: “ The Bond creation myth never happened. I felt there was an opportunity there: What made him? And who were the people who affected him along the way? You’re sort of telling the story backwards of how Bond became Bond.” It’s certainly an interesting approach to the character, and while Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace may no longer be how Bond became Bond, Mendes isn’t sweeping them under the carpet, with Jesper Christensen’s Mr. White turning up in the Spectre trailer sporting a natty beard.
