Zod’s Return In Batman V Superman Could Be A Strange One

Of the many problems Superman fans had with Man of Steel, the fact that the Big Blue Boy Scout snapped the neck of Michael Shannon’s General Zod rubbed up people the wrong way the most. But as we saw in the latest Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer, Zod would be making a return of sorts. Sure, we just saw him in a body bag, but as all know from watching superhero movies death is played with fast and loose with the most. Now, speaking with Variety, Shannon related a story from the set, involving an ill fated trip to the toiler, that reveals a possible, but very strange, detail about his return:

“I was in my costume, and I couldn’t use my fingers because in the sequel I have flippers instead of hands. So I had these wax flippers on my fingers, and I couldn’t open the door, and I could hear Zack [Snyder, the director] being like, ‘Where’s Shannon? Where the f**k is he?’ and the whole crew was standing around. I was like, knocking on the door with my flippers, ‘Let me out of here!” 

Ok, this could go a few ways. Right off the bat, Shannon could be having fun with us, and like any unconfirmed detail from a superhero movie, it should be taken with a pinch of salt. But if it is true, flipper handed Zod could point towards a clone of the Kryptonian general being cooked up in the bowels of the Google-esque Lex Corp headquarters. But we also have Jason Mamoa making an appearance as Aquaman, and flippers sound like a common thing you’d find in Atlantis, don’t they?

It’s certainly a very strange element to be introduced, and if it does turn out to be true, I’m intrigued to see how this pans out.
