With the movie due out in 2017, Edgar Wright is slowly bringing together the cast of Baby Driver, an original film about a mute getaway driver who uses music to maximise his driving in what is being described as Wright’s version of a musical (with no doubt some bad ass car chases thrown in). The director is already known for his visually distinctive movies, can you imagine him trying his hand at a musical? Anyway, already in place are The Fault in our Stars' Ansel Elgort as the titular driver and Lily James as the female lead. Now, another name has being added to the cast, with Jamie Foxx taking on the role of a crime lord who coerces our hero to work for him.
Wright and Foxx are both extremely talented individuals, and while I would never has thought of pairing the two together before, I am beyond excited to see what they are capable of working with each other. Also, this is just another example of how you can’t really pinpoint where Foxx is going next. The last few years has seen him star in disparate like The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Horrible Bosses, Django Unchained, and Annie. An action tinged musical comes as no surprise.
Baby Driver is set for release 17th March 2017.
