If you were a Star Wars fan who grew up in the 70’s and 80’s, no doubt you spent many a day just losing yourself while playing with your action figures, dreaming up new adventures for Han, Chewie, and whoever else you happened to have. That simple joy has now been captured ever so perfectly J.C. Reifenberg and his endearing short film Summer ’78, which follows a young Star War fan bringing out all his toys in force (heh) to create his own Star Wars movie, and envision a crossover I think we all have wanted to see for a long time. This is an absolutely joyous experience, one I think we can all identify with, and has one hell of an adorable final shot.
