1989’s Road House is a genuine cult classic, and in this current reboot/remake happy Hollywood climate, of course rumours of it being reimagined for the current generation have been doing the rounds for a while now. Well, it seems the rumours have solidified into an actual movie, with the project set to begin production sometime next year, and, as Variety reports, UFC star Ronda Rousey is expected to step into Patrick Swayze’s shoes as bouncer extraordinaire Dalton.

O.k., didn’t see that coming, but while her acting ability needs a bit of work (look to The Expendables 3, Entourage, and Fast & Furious 7), she does have the physical presence, and, as Dalton, she’ll be called on to kick all sorts of ass, something we know she can do very well. It should be a role similar to UFC alum Gina Carano’s in Haywire, and if they can tailor it to Rousey’s strengths while letting more established actors handle the heavy lifting acting wise, this could work.
