Rian Johnson and his cast and crew have set off for their second day of shooting for Star Wars Episode VIII on Skellig Michael. Skellig Michael (a UNESCO World Heritage site) has been quite the controversial choice however, with a number of activists and groups campaigning for the shoot to be cancelled due to the impact on wildlife etc. on the Island and the surrounding Skelligs.
There are quite a number of shooting restrictions put in place, which are pretty percise in what Johnson and his crew can and can't do, including how many trips the choppers can take right down to how high and low they can fly and hover. These were sent in a letter from the Department of Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, to the irish production manager, Martin Joy. There are 15 in total and they make for some fascinating reading.
