With James Wan electing to continue on The Conjuring franchise, the director’s chair for Fast & Furious 8 (possibly just called Fast 8) has been left vacant for a while now with every one from the original movie’s director Rob Cohen to Vin Diesel himself in the mix. Now, a director has been found, with Staright Outta Compton’s F. Gary Gray confirming through Facebook he’ll be orchestrating the vehicular mayhem this time round. Already, he’s taking a leaf out of Vin Diesel’s book.
I could not have asked for better partners than Vin Diesel, Neal H. Moritz, & the Universal Studios Entertainment...

With Grey coming off making a bit of money for Universal with his N.W.A. biopic ($196 million worldwide off a $28 million budget to be exact), this isn’t that strange a turn of events and continues what has already been luctraive partnership between both parties. Grey is also no stranger to action movies, or even some of the Fast and Furious cast having directed Vin Diesel in A Man Apart, Jason Statham in The Italian Job, and Dwayne Johnson in Be Cool. He's not quite the unknown quantity like Wan was when he was first announced, but it will still be very interesting to see what he does with the franchise.
