While we’re still getting over THAT trailer (listen to our reactions to it here), more new comes from The Force Awakens, with our long awaited return to a galaxy far, far breaking all sorts of records as soon as tickets went on sale on October 19th. In America, Fandango are reporting that traffic was at seven times its typical level, leading to a record breaking first day of pre-sales, selling eight times as much tickets as the previous record holder, The Hunger Games. It also broke every U.S. IMAX record, racking up $6.5 million for premium format screenings alone.
Closer to home, U.K. cinemas are reporting a whopping 200,000 plus advance tickets sales in a 24 hour period from when they went on sale at 8 a.m. on Monday. This smashes previous record holder in the country, including Skyfall, The Hunger Games, and 50 Shades of Grey. On the home front, many Irish cinemas reported sell out shows in record time frames. So, it’s safe to say that a lot of people are looking forward to The Force Awakens, and if you don’t have your ticket already, you really better get on that.
