With Secret of Kells and Song of the Sea, Irish based animation studio Cartoon Saloon proved that they have mastered that delicate balance between beautiful visuals and exquisite storytelling, especially with Tomm Moore’s Song of the Sea which is one of the finest animated features to come out of the Emerald Isle in recent years. While Cartoon Saloon’s next project is 2017’s The Breadwinner from director Nora Twomey (which also has Angelina Jolie Pitt on board as executive producer), Moore (also director of Secret of Kells) is already gearing up for the studio’s follow-up, Wolfwalkers, which again tackles Irish folklore and taking its inspiration from the slaughtering of Irelands wolf population under Oliver Cromwell’s. Moore posted the first pictures from the project to Tumblr, and while it’s still early days, it looks like Moores track record with the studio is set to continue
