Following their first foray into feature films with the rather great Beasts of No Nation, and after a possible detour with next week’s Adam Sandler production The Ridiculous Six, Netflix are delivering a sequel to the Academy Award winning Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon with Sword of Destiny (formerly, The Green Legend). The first trailer has arrived, featuring Michelle Yeoh reprising the role of Yu Shu-Lien busting out more kick-ass martial art acrobatics.
With The Matrix fight choreographer and renowned martial artist Yuen Wo-Ping at the helm, the fight scenes are absolutely breathtaking, as well they should as the original is a well deserved martial arts classic. The decision to shoot this in English (or, god forbid, dub it) raises a few questions, but that minor niggle aside, the streaming service should be onto another winner.
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny comes our way through Netflix and selected IMAX cinemas on February 26th 2016.
