Bringing to a close the trilogy that began with X-Men: First Class, X-Men: Apocalypse comes our way next Summer, and this first trailer is anything to go by, things are going to go out with a bang.
For a first trailer, it lays everything on the table, promising huge stakes and building up Oscar Isaccs' titular villain (who looks a lot better in motion than the stills we’ve so far) as the massive threat he deserves to be. This certainly looks to be the darkest X-Men movie to date, but it still retains the spark that have made the previous movies (o.k., an argument could be made for five out of seven) so enjoyable. And we finally get a look at James McAvoy the classic Professor X look, something we’ve been looking forward to for a long time.
Released: May 27th 2016
Synopsis: Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshipped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.
