Based on journalist Kim Barker’s wartime member, The Taliban Shuffle, Tina Fey takes the lead in dark comedy Whiskey Tango Foxtrot as Barker, recounting her time covering conflicts in Afghanistan and Pakistan, and the impact they had on her professional and personal life. The first trailer has come our way, and it promises something incredibly clever and charming, and more concerned with the characters than providing any political commentary.
Fey is on top form as usual, with many of the jokes finding their mark (the final one may be incredibly easy, but Fey’s reaction sells it effortlessly), but still finding time for the drama. Not to mention, the great cast surrounding her, including Margot Robbie, Martin Freeman, Alfred Molina, and Billy Bob Thornton.
