Kevin Smith’s latest directorial effort, Yoga Hosers, had its premiere in the midnight lineup of Sundance last night, and to mark the event, the man himself debuted the first clip from the movie, featuring the two leads, his own daughter Harley Quinn and Johnny Depp’s daughter, Lily Rose. The second installment of the True North trilogy, after Tusk and preceding Moose Jaws (Jaws. With a moose), Yoga Hosers follows Smith and Depp as two teenagers whose plans to attend the coolest high school party of the year are threatened by an ancient evil buried underneath the convenience store where they work. But you won’t find any that here, as the first clip has a serious 'Canadian Clerks’ vibe, with the director’s love of Degrassi Junior High shining through, and shows that the lead pair are actually pretty charming together.
This is definitely promises to be the most un-Kevin Smith movie Kevin Smith has put out (it’s PG-13, so don’t be expecting him to rely too heavily on the usual dick and fart jokes), and the fact that this has an old school adventure vibe has definitely piqued my interest.
