Charlton Heston’s iconic, 11 time Oscar winner Ben-Hur is getting the remake treatment with Night Watch and Wanted's Timur Bekmembetov at the helm, and things promise to be a bit different this time round. First up, it won’t come close to the original epic’s three and a half hour runtime, and will skew a little closer to the movie’s source material, Lew Wallace’s 1880 novel Ben-Hur: A Tale of the Christ. Also add in Bekmembetov’s crazy visual style, and we’re in for something very different. Our first look at the project comes courtesy of USA Today, a pair of pictures giving our first glimpse of the new Judah Ben-Hur (Jack Huston), as well as Morgan Freeman as his trainer Ilderim. Not much can be gleamed from these pictures, but this remake will have a tough job ahead of getting out of the shadow of it’s big brother.
