Despite receiving an absolute drubbing from the critics (ourselves included, labeling it one of the worst movies of last year), The Ridiculous Six was one of Netflix’s most watched movies, so you gotta believe the streaming service is pretty happy with their four picture deal with Adam Sandler. And the polarising funny man sure is churning them out, with his second Netflix exclusive film, The Do-Over, has already gotten a May release date, and a teaser trailer to boot.
Directed by Little Nicky and Mr. Deeds' (the two movies just on the turn of audiences getting sick of Sandler’s schtick) Steven Brill, The Do-Over follows a bank manager whose life is turned upside down when a friend from the past manipulates him into faking his own death and taking off on an adventure. I’ll admit to having an odd relationship with Sandler. He has produced some dreck in the past few years, but I always hold out hope for his latest movie to be the one that sees him go back to the glory of his early career. If The Do-Over is not that one, I have two more movie to ride this emotional roller coaster with.
The Do-Over hits Netflix worldwide on May 27th.
