Production kicked off on Christopher Nolan’s World War II epic Dunkirk yesterday, and the first photos from behind the scenes photos have come our way, courtesy of photographer Pierre Volot, have come our way, giving just a taste of what goes into bringing this amazing true story to life. Note the liberal use of cardboard cut outs standing in for no doubt CG soldiers and vehicles.
As with any Christopher Nolan movie, the full story of the movie is being kept close to the director’s chest, with only this very brief synopsis giving us any indication of what is in store for us:
Dunkirk opens as hundreds of thousands of British and Allied troops are surrounded by enemy forces. Trapped on the beach with their backs to the sea they face an impossible situation as the enemy closes in.
Dunkirk is set for release July 21st 2017.
