The first trailer for the new Ghostbusters reboot came our way two months ago, and I think we all know how that went, becoming the most disliked video on YouTube. As a first impression, to say it didn’t go down well is a bit of an understatement (just listen to podcasts past to hear our thoughts on it), but Paul Feig and Sony still have a few months to turn public opinion around, which brings us to the new trailer which delves a bit more into the story, and brings in familiar Ghostbuster foes Slimer and The Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, looking very much the worst for wear. There is also something that could definitely be considered a spoiler, as it may reveal a twist pertaining to one of the characters, so you have been warned.
Some of the jokes here are definitely better than the original trailer, and the visuals do look great, the movie’s insistence on clinging to the past (even though it’s been heralded as a reboot) is still something that doesn’t sit right with me. Having the original cast appear in cameos is one thing, but, like the first promo, this trailer goes out of its way to remind you of the original movie, to the point of being distracting. Just be your own movie, Ghostbusters.
Watch the new #Ghostbusters trailer now, and see it in theaters July 15. https://t.co/Y2HjHrBMET— Ghostbusters (@Ghostbusters) May 18, 2016
