For the last few years now, rumours of Space Jam 2, the now twenty year old sequel to the blockbuster Michael Jordan/Looney Tunes team-up, have been doing the rounds, with the Cleveland Cavilers LeBron James, recently seen in Amy Shumer’s Trainwreck supposedly attached to mix it up with Bugs, Daffy and the gang this time out. Unfortunately, all these rumours have turned out to be just that. Until now.
Revealed by The Hollywood Reporter, the project is finally moving forward, with James signed on to take the lead. Warner Bros. is in talks with Justin Lin (Fast & Furious 3 through 6 and the upcoming Star Trek Beyond) to handle the directing chores, while Bad Words’ scribe Andrew Dodge is being courted to pen the script. This particular project has stopped and started for years now, and now with it being the closest it has ever being to becoming a reality, there will be a lot of people who grew up with the original with huge smiles on their faces right about now.
