Remaking the 1972 Charles Bronson flick of the same name, 2011’s The Mechanic proved to be pretty sick action thriller, with Jason Statham in full bad ass mode as the titular hit man, Arthur Bishop. Swapping out original director Simon West for We Are the Night’s Denis Gansel, Mechanic: Resurrection sees Bishop make his triumphant return to the world of contract killing, bringing Jessica Alba and Tommy Lee Jones along for the ride, with a tale that sees him tasked with pulling off a series of seemingly impossible assassinations on the most dangerous men in the world.
Even though there’s a new guy at the helm, there’s no denying that Resurrection captures the style of the original perfectly, and Statham is on top form doing what he does best. As well as promising some bad ass action beats (the opening with the glass bottomed pool looks suitably impressive), it also seems to hint at Statham and Jones delivering quite the double act.
