With Pacific Rim, Godzilla, and the upcoming Kong: Skull Island and Kong vs. Godzilla, Legendary Entertainment are pretty much the monster movie guys now, and that reputation continues with The Great Wall, an ancient China set action movie which sees Matt Damon as a member of an elite force stationed on the Great Wall of China, the last line of defence against a monstrous threat.
Directed by Hero and House of the Flying Dagger’s Zhang Yimou, there’s no denying The Great Wall looks absolutely spectacular, a big Hollywood budget and cast, including Game of Thrones’ Pedro Pascal and Willem Defoe, mixing incredibly well with Yimou’s own film making sensibilities. It is unknown if the story is going will ultimately come off as serious or silly, but this first look is certainly enough to make this an incredibly intriguing prospect.
