In an odd turn of events, Oliver Stone and Joseph Gordon Levitt brought their real life thriller Snowden to San Diego Comic-Con, with a new trailer chronicling the events that led to government contractor Edward Snowden uncovering numerous privacy breaches debuting at the movie’s panel earlier today. Despite being based on complex issues of public surveillance and personal freedom, this new look at the movie does come across like a generic spy film. It could be that Stone is trying to make the story more palatable for mainstream audiences, but hopefully he doesn’t skimp on getting to the real meat of the story.
