We’re eight months away from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hitting the big screen, and while we’re still waiting on the first trailer to get in front of our eyes, some new concept art has come our way, via Empire, featuring our favourite bunch of a-holes fighting off a gigantic alien monster, which director James Gunn has dubbed an ‘Abilisk’ that could form the basis for one of the movies big action set-pieces. As much fun as the first movie was, something big and crazy like this was missing, but with this piece of concept art and Kurt Russell taking on the role of Ego the Living Planet (it’s exactly what you think), big and crazy is exactly what this sequel promises.
Apparently, the creature was featured in the first look footage from San Diego Comic-Con, and with the absence of new Guardians members Yondu, Mantis, and possibly Nebula, there’s every chance this battle could feature in the new films opening.
Released: May 5th 2017
