The last few years has been many classic movies make the jump to the small screen, including Psycho (Bates Motel), Silence of the Lambs (Hannibal), and From Dusk till Dawn, and that trend doesn’t seem to be slowing down any, with The Lost Boys announced as the latest to be getting the t.v. show treatment. According to Deadline, the CW, home to smash hit shows like The Flash and Arrow, has tapped Veronica Mars and iZombie creator Rob Thomas to develop the series, and he has some ambitious plans for the hard partying vampires. The first season is said to take place in San Francisco in 1967, with each subsequent season been set in a different time period, leading to the seventh and final season theoretically been set in a contemporary 2020’s setting. These plans coincide with The CW preparing to begin the final season of their hit vampire series The Vampire Diaries, which will leave a vampire shaped hole in their schedule that The Lost Boys is pure to fill.
As both a huge Veronica Mars and Lost Boys fan, is one turn of events that has me beyond excited. Thomas has a knack for creating likable, well rounded characters and intriguing stories for them to bounce around in, and having him let loose in The Lost Boys universe is something that has an endless possibilities.
