Following a pretty intriguing teaser last week, the first full trailer for Denis Villeneuve’s Sicario follow-up, and judging from the first full trailer below, even crossing over into the realm of sci-fi hasn’t tempered the director’s knack for telling complex, grounded stories.
Telling an alien invasion tale without the first reaction being to be the immediate grabbing of a gun is a refreshing twist on the genre. Sure, the threat of military action hangs over the trailer like a dense fog, but the real source of tension comes from finding a way to communicate with the strange new visitors. There is also a hint at a deep mythology and intriguing mystery at the heart of this. That’s enough to make me incredibly excited for this original sci-fi tale.
Released: 11th November
Synopsis: When mysterious spacecraft touch down across the globe, an elite team – lead by expert linguist Louise Banks (Amy Adams) – are brought together to investigate. As mankind teeters on the verge of global war, Banks and the team race against time for answers – and to find them, she will take a chance that could threaten her life, and quite possibly humanity.
