With the explosion of found footage movies over the last few years, there was the perfect opening for a movie to take the concept and turn it on it’s ear. No movie took it, until now. Found Footage 3D sees a behind the scenes documenter hired to follow a group of aspiring filmmakers as they descend on a creepy cabin in the middle of no where to film Spectre of Death, the ‘first 3D found-footage horror film’. As the filming marches on, he discovers the fictional evil entity from the movie is showing up in the behind the scenes footage.
While it may have missed the boat slightly (with the genre seemingly sone and dusted), Found Footage 3D promises to be a humorous and gleefully violent send up of the genre, one that knows how ridiculous it can be at times. There could for found footage what Scream did for slashers, and there’s no denying this has the potential to be a good time at the cinema for any horror fan.
While there is no word yet on a wide release, Found Footage 3D makes it’s World Premier at the Bruce Campbell Horror Film Festival on August 20th, before playing London’s Frightfest on August 29th.
