Adam Wingard's 'Very Gory' Death Note Adpatation

SHARE:

Despite a whole lot of hype surrounding its surprise release, Adam Wingard and Simon Barrett's Blair Witch was met with mixed reviews and a less-than-expected box office performance when it was released over the weekend. Regardless, there were plenty who loved Wingard's supernatural sequel - Blair Witch is certainly a much needed shot of adrenaline in the arm of the dying found footage genre.

Given the critical success of WIngard's previous big releases - 2011's You're Next and 2014's The Guest - there are many horror fans out there eagerly anticipating his next project. That project is an adaptation of the hugely successful anime/mange Death Note.

Speaking to Collider, Wingard stated that the film will have the distinctly "adult themes" of a manga - "it's got nudity, it's got swearing, it's got a ton of violence... all very gory." Hobo With a Shotgun director Jason Eisner is also on board as a second-unit director - a fact that should excite those horror fans that were disappointed with the mainstream feeling of Blair Witch.

Death Note will be released on Netflix sometime in 2017.
